Telescope Set Up

  • Telescope was already set up due to an earlier observation.
  • Telescope centred on target Delta Cephei using Stellarium to locate coordinates.

Target Information

  • RA 22h, 29min, 41s, Dec: 58deg, 29', 12"
  • From Stellarium date of next maximum is 25/02/2014
  • Companion Star HIP110988 used as a reference star.

Observation of Delta Cephei

  • Frames were taken with different filters and exposure times, as in Log Book 0029
  • Focus filter - 1.1s
  • No filter - 1s
  • Blue filter 10s
  • Green filter - 5.1s
  • Red filter 3.3s
  • 5 Repeats were taken of each.
  • 10 Dark and bias frames were also taken, with an exposure time of 10s
  • Trash frame taken before first dark frame.
  • Three sets of observations were recorded, dc1, dc2 and dc3, using the autosave feature defined in Log Book 0029
  • Due to cloud, pixel count was lower than in previous observations, however the same exposure time was used for speed and consistancy
  • Each observation took approximately 10-15 minutes to run.
  • Due to cloud, observation dc2 provided little to no images of delta cephei
  • Waited 10 -15 minutes for cloud to clear before observaton dc3 began.

Telescope Pack Up

  • Turn off coolers
  • Disconnect Camera
  • Disconnect Stellarium and Maxim DL
  • Put lens cap on telescope
  • Turn off camera
  • Turn off telescope
  • Put cover back on camera
  • Close dome shutters
  • Turn off PC monitors
  • Turn off lights and leave dome
