Newton cluster comes home

After two years hosted by Imperial College, our 'Newton' Grid computing cluster has finally been relocated to Royal Holloway's new state-of-the-art computer centre. The move was carried out by HPC experts Clustervision and everything went smoothly. Before it goes back to work processing LHC data, a software upgrade is planned.

The 'Newton' Grid cluster is a bespoke high-throughput data analysis cluster. It has 960kSI2k processing power(400 CPU cores) and 300TB storage. As part of LondonGrid, GridPP, EGEE and WLCG it is used by physicists worldwide to perform LHC data analysis.
