  • start exposure, bin 4, continuous, center object, speed 3
  • adjust focus, unlock primary mirror clockwise 2 revolutions, bracketing process(see how the object is changing), object keeps moving, brightness changes, focus as much as possible, center it again speed 3, synchronize-object,star,named, click for 2 sec
  • observede diffraction pattern- something is wrong with the camera, filter plate not moving, adjusting, fixed filter changing

  • change exposure time to 0.3s, get star off center, focus on other, dimmer stars, adjust focus once more to see clearly
  • discovered diffraction pattern in filter image
  • took apart camera with help of Prof Boogert
  • once camera filter in working condition, resumed observation
  • took exposures of far field stars near Betelgeuse in order to focus the telescope
  • shifted focus to plaidees - Atlas and Cleo
  • used Astrometry in order to determine our location in the night sky
  • once Atlas and Cleo found, took 0.1 interval exposures from 1 to 5 seconds until stars were saturating pixel value
  • once pixel values saturated, shifted view to m41 orions nebula
  • took one 7 second exposure
  • ended observation around 20:25

  • Opened dome doors
  • removed lens caps
  • Disassembled previous experiment
  • Attached cameras: make sure plugged in switched on
  • Cameras: SBIG ST8-XME (main scope LX200(bottom one)), SBIG-ST8300M(monochromatic)
  • Star Alignement: on remote: Mode --, use arrows to move telescope until can see star over top of barrel without seeing barrel. Target: Betelgeuse, speed 9
  • generated Maxim dl, connected both cameras, set exposure time to 0.1s
  • set to speed 5, center
  • start exposure, bin 4, continuous, center object, speed 3
  • adjust focus, unlock primary mirror clockwise 2 revolutions, bracketing process(see how the object is changing), object keeps moving, brightness changes, focus as much as possible, center it again speed 3, synchronize-object,star,named, click for 2 sec
