20130228 Shift

Plan

  • Set detector attenuation to 9dB as normal
  • Save a set file

  • Load optics
  • Minimise background
  • Dispersion measurement
  • Dispersion correction
  • OTR measurement for emittance and coupling
  • Coupling correction
  • Background minimisation
  • Save set file

  • OTR - focus by eye
  • OTR - quad scan by eye
  • OTR - few images at focus for idea of size
  • Alignment for collisions

  • Vertical, horizontal, phase to optimise
  • NL vertical

  • Save set file
  • NL vertical for 6 different charges / gun settings

  • Decide what setting gives best signal to background level and set
  • Adjust detector attenuation and record

  • Quad scan - quick vertical, full horizontal, NL vertical - 3A or 4A steps - make sure to go really far out for approximately 10um on either side
  • Set to minimum

  • quick vertical, Horizontal (full and detailed), NL vertical

  • Vertical scans at different horizontal offsets - 0, +-50, +-100, +-200

  • if time premits - quad scan with only quick vertical and horizontal and NL vertical

  • Tidy up - requires 1hr
  • Last thing - OTR repeat of Quad scan
  • Restore optics

  • Acces to install energy meter and check alignment

  • Alignment and timing around 5 am.

  • 5 dB attenuation now, tweak green crystal

  • 200 pulse log : 20130301_0619_log.dat

  • Tunes: H = 0.170533; V = 0.569211

06:30

  • Dispersion measurement and correction using FlightSimulator tools. Improved vertical dispersion, but made horizontal slightly worse.
  • Lost collisions during frequency ramp of dispersion measurement.
  • Clicked timing back and forth and tried a feew phase settings.
  • Phase scan to recover
  • Found collisions but not nearly as high as before.
  • Needed to reoptimise all three axes in the end as the beam had shifted.

* Had to retime at 12:50. 100% modulation of signal corresponding to wrapping on phase shifter. Scanned in phase, but same behaviour so shifted to RF bucket one less in delay and scanned phase again - worked just fine. Back on. Continue quad scan.
