FCC Studies

Overview

The Future Circular Collider (FCC) study is designed to investigate concepts and designs for a next generation circular collider that would expand the reach of fundamental physics research past the limits of the LHC. Different setups are considered as part of the study such as a hadron collider (FCC-hh) and a lepton collider (FCC-ee). This project focuses on studying the collimation system the hadron collider design - a proton-proton collider with a circumference of 100km and a centre of mass collision energy of 100TeV.

When dealing with beam energies in this range unique challenges arise such as the synchrotron radiation emitted by the protons and the stringent limits on energy deposition in cold sections. BDSIM has the capability to simulate losses and particle backgrounds in an accelerator beamline, making it an essential tool in simulation studies of the FCC.
