Particle Physics PhD opportunities at RHUL
Research towards the degree of PhD is offered in any of the projects covered by the research interests of the Centre.
Students in the experimental group spend their first three months following an intercollegiate course of lectures on advanced particle physics with students from other University of London colleges. In January of their first year they begin their project. They are likely to spend some time in the exciting atmosphere of CERN or other accelerator labs in their first and second years giving the opportunity of meeting students from many other countries as well as senior particle physicists and maybe a Nobel prizewinner or two. At the end of the first year there is a three-week summer school at RAL attended by all UK
PhD students in particle physics and (group travel funds permitting) our students normally attend a summer school outside the UK at the end of the second year.
PPARC studentships are available from October 2007, providing funding for up to four years. There is also the possibility of a joint RAL - RHUL studentship to work on the
ATLAS project, starting October 2007 (RAL is the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory).
