IDEA! Spectrometer Focus.

New data was taken for the focus and angle of the spectrometer as the fibre optic cable had been shifted in the spectrometer.

Set binning to 1x1.

Exposure time to 0.1

SBIG Universal Camera, temperature cooled to -8.2 deg C

Mercury Lamp

  • Took measurements from 18.50mm to 21.50mm with angle micrometer at 2.6mm, grating micrometer at 4mm. In steps of 0.20mm.
  • Took measurements, with focus micrometer at 20.20mm, of the micrometer from 0.00mm to 4.00mm in steps of 0.20mm.
  • To see if there is any difference in spectral line measurement when changing the grating (ie is camera better at the edges)
  • Took measurement from 1.00mm to 12.00mm in swteps of 0.50mm
  • Took closer measurements of the grating from 3.20mm to 4.80mm in steps of 0.10mm.
