H-Alpha 2

H-Alpha Observation 2

• JC, LN, LW, ZCW

• Seeing quite good. Few intermittent clouds, but clearing up.
• Coolers on around 3pm and biases and darks taken. 60 biases, 7 darks at 20mins
• Aligned to Sirius at 7pm

• Bright star in field of view on main scope - Alnitak

• Pixel coods 573,384
• Agressiveness 8,4
• touched up focus
• 1st try at 600s with h alpha at 7:32
• 10minute exposure quite clear but alnitak just about saturated
• 20 minutes exposure clearer nebulosity but not excessive distortion on alnitak
• settled on 10 minute exposures as we have some already
• auto save for 15 (can cancel)
• did 9 exposures at 10 min, so 11 in total with earlier ones

• Try rosette to see how bright it is for next time

• Tried 10 min exposure and was very good!
• Realigned to centre the nebula
• Setup guiding again - worked nicely
• 1x 20 min exposure - excellent

• 50 flats on smaller scope with electro-luminescent panel - 6s each
• Dome shut and cameras warmed up at 11:25
