Darco - Attempt to see tracks!

  • Rebuilt TPC amplification plane late last week
  • Detector centered (roughly) (it is about 70 pixels off in x and 145 in Y)
  • Friday
    • Play with CCD, attempt to look for dark hits from cosmics depositing energy in the CCD
    • Hot Spot on the bottom right of the frame, around 2600x0
    • Cosmic_CCD_HIT.png: Enclosed in 10x20 frame

  • Monday
    • Vessel started out at approx 3.7x10^-6 torr
    • Prepared the gas lines for CF4 gas use
    • Evacuuated line and pumped back out, no leaks (or no bad leaks)
    • Backfill vessel to ~100 torr (1.93PSIA)
    • Slowly ramp up Cathode to 750V
    • Slowly ramp up Anode to 500V, See evidence for sparks, we have trouble reaching 500V in a stable state without sparks.
    • No obvious signs of tracks
    • Anode shorted out after approx 1hr operation, not huge spark rate but obvious issues

    • Rebuild
  • Tuesday
    • Limit for the Anode is roughly 700V without sparks, pushing much further gives a constant sparking rate several 2-3 / s
    • See one event which gives the largest 'track' like object but this is a single event in roughly 30mins of ccd exposures
    • Cosmic_or_Alpha_CCDHit.png: Enclosed 20x50 frame
